There was no anger in Kakashi’s eye.
He grabbed Sasuke’s wrist firmly, but Sasuke could feel no tension in Kakashi’s hand. The firmness was just to make sure Sasuke couldn’t escape.
“Sit against that tree,” Kakashi said, his voice as lazy as ever.
In a blink of an eye, Sasuke was bound to the tree by trap wire. Sasuke looked closely at Kakashi’s face, hoping he could see some sort of emotion painted on his face. Some sign that he was displeased with Sasuke. Some sign Sasuke’s disobedience affected him.
“You’ll stay here until nightfall with no food or water,” Kakashi said and then added, “I suggest you think over your behavior.” He turned around to walk away.
“What about Gaara?” Sasuke said, hoping to trigger a reaction.
“I’ll take care of that,” Kakashi said. He took a few steps away before adding dryly, “Perhaps, though, allowing him to harm you some will teach you not to provoke him better then this.”
Sasuke lowered his gaze and welcomed the guilt and shame that cut through him like a knife. When he could no longer hear Kakashi’s footsteps, he followed Kakashi’s suggestion.
When Gaara showed up, he allowed Gaara to watch him silently.
